About
Collectively, we form ESPN Community Development.
We use agile, iterative and test-driven principles to create social Web products using Ruby on Rails and PHP. We host nearly all our products through Amazon's Web Services platform where we dabble with MySQL, Python, Apache, Nginx, SQLite, memcache and other goodies.
We've built a social network, 5,000 widgets, a widget directory, Facebook applications, message boards and integrated a comment system into ESPN.com.
We work with several outside development groups, love being a part of a huge and helpful open-source development community and have learned a lot since we came together in Los Angeles in August, 2007.
We love sports, the Internet and enabling the sports fan to participate in both.
Ed Davis runs the group, Cody Swann manages it and Dary Merckens and Jorge Mir do all the hard work.
